Walking Festival 2007 We are pleased to announce the Prestatyn Walking Festival 2007 Prestatyn Walking Festival LONGER MONTHLY WALKS Monday 15th JanuaryMeet in ‘Saints Fitness Centre’ car park, Meliden at 9:30am.Walk will start from ‘Brickfield Pond’ car park, Rhyl at 10:00am.Distance: 6 miles and duration is about 3 ½ hours.Description: River Clwyd walk from Rhyl to Rhuddlan returning on western side of river. Lots of birds to observe so don't forget to bring binoculars.Leader : Malcolm Wilkinson Tuesday 23rd January / 20th February / 20th MarchA themed ‘Flora Fauna and Food ‘ walk.Starts at ‘Saints Fitness Centre’ car park, Meliden at 2pm.Distance: 3-5 miles.Description: Grade C - Some steeper inclines and stiles, Footpath and grass.Learn about your local plants, what they are and what you can eat.Leaders: Dave Parkinson of Dynamic Adventures. Monday 19th FebruaryMeet at Graig Park Country Club in Meliden at 10:00am.Walk will start from Gwaenysgor village at 10:30am.Park on road leading to ‘The Eagle and Child’ Public House.Lunch or refreshments at pub is optional.Distance: 4 miles and duration about 2½ hours.Description: Walk on section of the Clwydian with stunning views of coastline looking towards the Dee Estuary and Wirral. Country Lanes, woodland and open country. Some moderate hills with a few stiles to cross.Leader: Malcolm Wilkinson. Monday 16th MarchMeet in ‘Saints Fitness Centre’ car park, Meliden at 9:30am.Walk will start from Tremeirchion village at 10:00am.Park on road in village near school hall.Distance: 6 miles and duration about 3½ hours.Description: Introduction to hill walking on eastern side of Clwydian Range AONB and on a section of the Offa’s Dyke path. The walk passes through Y Graig Nature Reserve (North Wales Wildlife Trust) and by caves at Ffynnon Beuno near Brynbella.Lunch or refreshments at ’The Salusbury Arms’ pub optional. This is a more challenging walk involving some long moderate hills with several stiles to cross. Walking boots with good grip are essential. Leader: Malcolm Wilkinson
